Nikon’s Coolpix line has been extended with the addition of two new cameras: the S1100pj and the S5100. The former is basically a step up from the indispensable S1000pj projector camera. It is slimmer than the predecessor, has a new 3 inch touchscreen and has features like a 14 megapixel sensor (with 720p video capture) and ISO 6400 sensitivity, 28-140mm 5x optical zoom (with five-way stabilizer), and face, smile and blink detection. The Coolpix S5100 has a 12.1 mp sensor, 720-p video capture, 5x optical zoom and a tripod detection system.
The S1100pj and the S5100 will cost $349 and $179 repectively. There’s going to be a likely revelation of the D3100 in the near future.
