Nissan to Exhibit Prototype of Next-generation “GT-R” for Launch in 2007

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. announced that it would exhibit “GT-R PROTO,” a concept car representing next “GT-R” model at Tokyo Motor Show 2005. Nissan also revealed an illustration of the concept car. Although the illustration suggests the concept car has a similar styling to that of the GT-R production model to be launched in 2007, the details of engine specifications, powertrain type are presently unspecified. Unlike the successive “Skyline GT-R” models, which are derived from a sedan, the next GT-R will have a specific body. With the air intake optimized for intake efficiency, the rear air outlet with flow-straightening function and the curved rear pillar, the new car is designed to maximize performance of the vehicle.

Four ring-shaped tail lamps are provided as with other GT-R models.
