The Commodore an 8-bit classic computer recently spoke about recreating the C64 using modern hardware. While an official launch was made, there was speculation if we would actually see it retail. We’ll that’s sorted and for $595, you can get your hands on the entry level model. The new C64 is powered by a Dual-core Intel Atom 525 and an NVIDIA Ion 2 chipset and comes with a 2GB of memory, expandable to a maximum of 4GB. On one end, is the media readers (DVD, flash cards) while the back has all the modern outputs like HDMI, DVI, VGA, USB, Ethernet, Audio – and even the IBM PS/2 keyboard and mouse connectors.
The C64 is expected to make an entry early June. We’ll just have to wait and see if this new-classic proves a hit.
