Claiming a world first, Panasonic has announced the SDR-S100, the world’s first 3-CCD digital camcorder to rely solely on SD cards for storage. Apparently a tad more anorectic than JVC’s Everio line of digital camcorders, the new camcorder records video in MPEG2 format, sporting among other features a 10x optical zoom lens, widescreen recording and a bundled 2 GB SD card. Relying on 3 separate CCD sensors, each with an effective resolution of 640K pixels in 4:3 format and 540K pixels in 16:9 format, the SDR-S100 records up to 25 minutes of high-resolution video in MPEG2 format onto its bundled 2 GB SD card. The Panasonic SDR-S100 SD camcorder is slated for introduction in North America in October, with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $1,200 USD. Via Infosyncworld
