Philips Releases Wider-Than-Widescreen 3D TV

There can scarcely be a home without a widescreen TV these days. However, this new release from Philips threatens to eclipse the lot. The Philips 21:9 3D TV is a super-duper, living room shrinking, wall dominating screen that will consume household space. With a 21:9 ratio, regular 16:9 widescreens pale in comparison. Unfortunately, since most TV shows and video games are not yet compatible with this TV format, you will have black bars down either side of the screen when viewing these. However, many movies are already formatted to fit the 21:9 widescreen, so if that’s all you intend watching, then this is probably the TV to tickle you. As well as being super big, the TV also includes an Ambilight feature, that lights the wall behind the screen to entertain you in case the movie you chose is a bit dull, I guess.

The price of the 21:9 3D TV is yet unconfirmed. Release date is rumored to be Spring 2011.
