The Playstation 3 firmware is now updated to ver 2.10 which included support for playback for DivX and WMV files. It can play the new formats in full HD (1,920×1,080) with WMV at 7.9 Mbps and DivX at 6.8 Mbps. Files encoded in DivX 3.11 format and protected EMV files above 2GB are not supported. Other than this there have been a few cosmetic changes including better playback of Music CD’s and SACD, support for Blu-Ray profiles ver 1.1 and picture in picture goodness. An interesting feature is the voice changer which makes you sound like a person using a voice changer with five presets over hi and low tones. The firmware is out in Japan and should roll out in a few hours globally.
