Revisiting the past when dialing a number meant actually moving a dial, the Port-O-Rotary is truly vintage albeit with a bit modifications. It has been specially modified to work like a cell phone. Open up the phone and slide in the SIM card and you’re ready to go. Keeping the old spirit alive, the phone still has a dial tone; dials out through the rotary and the incoming calls ring the original, loud, gong style metal bells. The internal cellular module works within any country that has one of the 900MHz, 1800MHz, or 1900MHz cellular bands. The battery lasts for 4-5 days and is charged by an external jack located on the rear of the phone.
The Port-O-Rotary is available now in red with up to 15-digit dialing, auto-frequency selection, ‘+’ characters, and PIN # entry for pre-paid cards. It costs $249.95, available at Sparkfun Electronics.
