Gamestop has been the one of the ideal and best places to pick up used games for the PlayStation for a while now. The retailer could in the future however face several tribulations with rumors of Sony planning to block used games surfacing. As per reports, used PlayStation games will require unlocking, which in turn would cost a small fee. This could pretty much make Gamestop suffer resulting in the retailer turning away from supporting the Sony PlayStation. The move would indeed benefit game developers including Electronic Arts and Activision, spelling doom for Gamestop and decreasing sales for Sony. A step like this taken by console developers like Sony or Microsoft could very well make purchasing pre-owned games obsolete and downright silly and expensive, decreasing console sales while leaving game developers smiling.
