Micro sized quadcopters with their unbelievable agility are going to be the next big thing in the flying RC toy market. Earlier this year at the CES, French company Parrot showed a minidrone which can fit in the palm of your hand and even has its own VGA camera. But when it comes to the smallest quadcopter in world, Proto X from Estes holds the distinction of being the tiniest by quite a huge margin. This thing in not bigger than a bug and measures 1.8″ x 1.8″ and weighs only four-tenths of an ounce. The insect-sized flying RC toy uses four tiny rotors and is able to fly up to 10 minutes on a 45 minute charge and comes with a 2.4 GHz radio controller inside the package.
The Proto X has bright LEDs on its body, and if it weren’t for the LEDs that light up when it’s switched on, it would be difficult to keep track of it at a distance. It is surprising how well balanced the microdrone is considering its tiny size and it makes a buzzing sound similar to mosquitoes. All this fun is priced at only $40 making it an absolute steal for the price.
