At one point of time during the big mobile revolution, the clamshell phone, you might have called them ‘flip’ phones back in the day, was a popular choice for a lot of people. I mean some of the first designs from Motorola focused on that design and let’s face it, they had their charm it had its run. The touchscreen took over and the design became one of memory. The latest news is that big time smartphone manufacturer, Samsung, seems to be on a nostalgic trip bent on brining the good old flip phone back into the picture. A recent photo floating around the net showcases an Android powered flip phone, dubbed the Galaxy Folder (an apt name). Although the design is still popular in some parts of the globe, a big Player like Samsung launching an old school design is a big deal.
Its display is of the touchscreen variety with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels (no size mentioned yet), Samsung, hell bent on staying true to form, has also featured an old school alphanumeric keypad. The Folder might also feature a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor to run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The handset is also expected to be LTE equipped. There’s no pricing or launch date revealed for the handset, and although I was never a fan of the design, I have to admit I’m quite intrigued. If you’re a fan of all things nostalgic you might want to hold out for the Folder.
