Vacuum cleaner robots are nothing new. I recently brought you news of the self charging vacuum cleaning MS800 from MSI. Now Samsung have launched their competition, the VC-PL62W, a robot vacuum that doubles as a surveillance camera. As well as sucking up your floor dirt, the VC-PL62W keeps an eye on your house too. Better than a dog that needs constant attention and leaves hair all over the place, if you ask me. This ‘bot will walk itself all around the house as it cleans up, rather than drops, hair. Samsung add that the ‘bot is even better than CCTV cameras too. Whereas these can only monitor limited spaces, the VC-PL62W can get into and therefore keep an eye on just about everywhere. Video images can then be replayed and watched on any PC or smartphone.
The VC-PL62W, Samsung’s security robot vacuum is currently only available in South Korea and will set you back around $684 (799,000 won).
