Residents of San Francisco will no longer complain about waiting for the bus. Several bus stops on the MUNI line have been set up with touch-capable video screens, which allow you to kill time with games like puzzles and trivia. This service is available at 20 stops in the Bay Area and is sponsored by Yahoo. The screens are linked to each other, allowing bus-goers to play with others who are waiting for the bus. The social networking aspect is to actually an official competition than just another way to kill time. To keep users engaged, the players are allowed to enter in his or her neighborhood of choice, and the winner gets 100 points. On January 28th, the neighborhood with the highest number of points will be declared winners and invited to an exclusive party with the band OK Go on February 5th.
I can see how this will encourage more people to ride the ride the bus, but what if the bus arrives when you’re mid-way your game. Would a hardcore gamer abandon his dame mid-way?
