Sharp has jumped into the Blu-Ray bandwagon with the BD-HP1 Blu-Ray recorder. It can playback Blu-Ray (single / dual layer) along with DVD±R/RW and DVD-RAM discs. However unlike other Blu-Ray burners the BD-HP1 supports only single sided discs for burning. The BD-HP1 comes with 7.1 channel analog output, HDMI output, D4 port as well as dual i-Link ports. It comes with a universal remote control Fami-Link which can control all Sharp products.
The Sharp AQUOS BD-HP1 measures 434×343×68mm and weighs 4.4 kg. It will go on sale in Japan from March 10 for 150,000 Yen ($ 1240).
