Simple GPS help Mexican immigrants find a Home in America

For as long as you can probably remember the US has had issues with their Mexican border situating. In a nutshell, it’s the illegal immigrants getting through that are the issue. These immigrants are prepared to face all sorts of challenges to make their way to the land of opportunity, the land of the free. Most of these challenges include getting shot at by ‘patriotic’ Americans living in the area of crossing or the border security, starvation and other scenarios that make their to the US quite cumbersome to say the least. While this may be an issue for some Americans, there are a few like Ricardo Dominguez who have been in the business of using technology to thwart the government’s strict immigrant policy in the region. His latest attempt is quite simple – by adding a little extra tech, in this case a GPS module, to a low end Motorola handset, immigrants will be able to locate easier ways of getting through the border and the points of interest would include safe houses, food and shelter. This system called the Transborder Immigrant Tool could mean a serious issue for the border security.

While the ideology may seem noble on Dominguez’s part, this is a classic example of how technology could be misused and as rebellious as most of us may be, sticking finger up at the law using technology doesn’t really showcase its responsible use.
