Sony has updated the super mini Vaio U series, the 4.5 inch UMPC gets its CPU updated from Intel Core 2 Solo U2100 at 1.06 Ghz to a faster Core Solo U1400 at 1.2 Ghz. Hard disk has been pepped up to 40GB from 30GB. Other than this the specifications remain the same with a 4.5 inch 1,024×600 dot display, 1GB memory, Intel 945GMS Express chipset, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. However with the port extender you can get more options like multiple USB ports, Felica, Firewire, Ethernet Jack etc.

The updated Vaio U series will be available in Japan with prices starting from 190,000 Yen ($ 1655).
