I cannot imagine what kind of person thought of this and worse still, who on earth would give it the green light (no pun intended). The Canadian city of Vancouver is experimenting with a speed control creation that uses an optical illusion to fool you into thinking there is a child in the road. Being piloted near École Pauline Johnson Elementary School, the very lifelike painted optical illusion looks like a little girl chasing a ball into traffic. This is crazy on so many counts. Firstly, drivers may slam their brakes on harder, believing the illusion to be real, and thus cause more accidents. Secondly, drivers may mistake real children for the illusions and again, more accidents occur.
I cannot imagine how and why mothers would allow this terrible speed control idea to be piloted near a school, unless they have really had enough of their whining brats.
