Alcohol brands are expanding their capabilities to farther shores. With the introduction of Ballantine’s programmable t-shirts, the hype behind adding technology to binging has caught rapidly. Strongbow, UK’s popular cider brand, has joined hands with a digital agency named Work Club to roll out digitally-enabled bottle tops called SmartCap. These tops use RFID technology, which on opening the bottle sends a signal to the reader. The reader recognizes the tag and activates the appropriate power switch. This enables remote controlling of various things such as lighting, music and more, via a central computer.
Strongbow’s Facebook Page welcomes new ideas that you can come up with, which will help the brand leverage the technology better. Finally, no more bottle cap litter.
