The Hobbit Stamps and Coins make it to New Zealand

LOTR fans in New Zealand jump for joy with the news of this inspiring endeavor by authorities in the nation. They’ve introduced (real) gold, silver and zinc coins. What’s more, they’ve also brought forth a special stamp to honor Tolkien’s characters. The language of Khuzdul adorns the coins, with imagery of different characters we see in the movie. The inscription reads, ‘he who dies with the biggest axe wins’. So there you go fan boys, be rich or be untrue.

The gold coins cost $3,700 for a coin ($11,000 for the set of three), the silver ones come for $890 and the zinc coins cost $30. The stamps can be procured for $15 each. That’s truly an expensive affair.
