The Xacti HD700 is a pocketcam from the house of Sanyo and packs in quite a punch. The HD700 can record 720p video and 7-megapixel still images to SD and SDHC cards. It features the familiar pistol-grip design like the rest of Sanyo’s Xacti line. According to Sanyo, it can record AVC/H.264 MPEG-4 video, which greatly reduces file size while retaining quality; also this will let you fit more video on a card. The specs include the “Face Chaser” feature; a face-detection system that can track up to a dozen faces and adjust focus and exposure accordingly. The HD700 sports a 2.7-inch flip-out screen and uses a 38-190mm-equivalent, f/3.5-4.7 lens that only offers 5x zoom power.

Sanyo’s Xacti HD700 is 4.3 inches tall and 1.4 inches deep and weighs less than half a pound with battery and card. It will hit the stores later next month for around $600. you can choose from silver, red, and brown colors.

  1. You know, Camcorders are getting so like the small hand-held video recording device you see in the film 2001 : A Space Odyssey (made in the Sixties) during the conference scene!
Arthur C. Clarke so got it right….:-)
