While the Toyota Prius has its critics, there is something about the car that manages to set it apart as the renegade automobile that defies odds even with the strange colors and a design that is despised by many. Now, the Japanese car is offering science as a solution to enhance the experience of being in it on a sunny day. The all new Thermo-Tect Lime Green color does away with the carbon black particles found in most paint and replaces it with titanium oxide. This increases the cars solar reflective capabilities, thus reducing the heating on sunny days. The butterfly effect automatically reduces the need for more air conditioning and subsequently enhances fuel economy.
The company claims that this paint coat out-performed white color which is ideally the best means of reflecting the suns heat away. The relieving news is that we aren’t going to be perpetually limited to the lime green shade. The company will try out other colors as well. It is available for a Yen-equivalent of $381 in Japan only presently.
