Thinklabs Digital iPod Stethoscope

Thinklabs have come out with a rather interesting combination of multimedia and medical science. It is basically a Stethoscope Recording Package that can be used to monitor and then later study the recorded observations. The whole setup includes a ds32a Digital Stethoscope, 2GB iPod nano and an XtremeMac MicroMemo. The ds32a by think labs comes with a microphone and is known for its high sensitivity and accuracy when used as stand alone, whereas XtremeMac MicroMemo are masters in multimedia recording. No need for me to say anything about the Nano. These three together are capable of helping the paramedics have their work simplified to a great extent. The MicroMemo is plugged into the line-in jack of the ds32a and the magic happens. This is soon to be a widely accepted phenomenon and we should expect to see Apple sticking the iPod into more and more devices.

The iPod based Stethoscope costs $495. A great investment I say, especially for specialists and family doctors.
