Toyota ups the safety quotient with rear window airbag for small cars

Safety features in cars are of paramount importance when considering the design aspects of the frame. Since the small to midget-sized cars have very little space between the rear seats and rear-end of the car, impacts from behind the car can cause severe injuries to the persons inside the car. Cars like the upcoming iQ micro car from Toyota will host a new safety airbag that will help in absorbing rear-end-collision impact. Toyota’s new rear window airbag is ejected from the roof lining during a rear-end-collision, thus protecting the heads and necks of the back seat passengers.

Toyota wants to improve its safety reputation by making side curtain and shield airbags standard for all of its models.
