The US Navy is on its way to getting a new super high-tech nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding are the guys doing the building and work has been underway since September of last year. If the schedule is maintained the CVN-78 or Gerald R. Ford (the first of its kind class of aircraft carrier) will leave drydock to water in July 2013. It features a spanking new power plant design, brand-new Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System and a reduced weight and flexible infrastructure that enabled the addition of new technology later on if and when deemed worthy.
