Are you rich and love to flaunt it? Well if you are then this will interest you, Vertu, the mobile phone brand that’s designed for people like you, has just launched an all new Constellation series smartphone running on the Android platform. Although the brand caters to the elite, they have nonetheless chosen to go with what many consider to be the common man’s OS. Dropping the ‘V’ suffix, this version of the Constellation isn’t quite what as elegant as the last but doesn’t lack the company’s chic, classy tones or finesse in its design profile. Taking a big step up from the Ti that was launched at the beginning of the year; this is Vertu’s second Android powered luxury smartphone. It bears the largest sapphire crystal glass to ever feature on a mobile phone at 4.3-inches (720p resolution).
Like any rich man’s toy, this smartphone is just as competitive as the rest with specifications that include a 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor coupled with an Adreno 320 graphics processor (even the rich like playing games and watching HD videos). In the camera department the Constellation will be equipped with a 13 MP camera that features a Dual LED flash. For those important video calls a 1.3 MP front facing camera is housed above the display. Other features include all the goodies that come along with the Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS viz. Bluetooth 4.0 (aptX audio support), WiFi, NFC et al. (no LTE) What seems to be the only disappointing aspect of this handset is its 1800mAh battery and 32GB of on board storage is what you’ll have to be content with.
Vertu also offers their customers a very exclusive range of services and tools like global, unlimited Wi-Fi access from iPass, an advanced version of Kaspersky anti-virus, an option to go with Protector Services Group for ‘insurance purposes’ and your personal safety and plenty of other encrypted services as well. If you’re looking for the full blown and famed Concierge service then you’re going to have to stick to the Ti.
All of this is available for the price of just $6,630. It’s available in dark brown, orange, black, light brown and cherry in durable calf leather styling that’s elegantly wrapped around the titanium (grade 5) frame. It’s one of those items that one wishes to break a commandment for.
