Vintage Mobile Cinemas Hit UK Roads Again

Long distance journeys are always easier if you have some light movie entertainment to keep you distracted, but would you really opt to take a bus just for the in-travel flick? Back in the 1960s, the British Ministry of Technology proposed exactly that, and commissioned seven mobile cinemas for UK roads. Not surprisingly, they were not a success and soon disappeared. Now, some moving-movie nostalgic nerds have restored one of the vehicles and are putting it back out in public. The fully refurbished van has been outfitted with top notch high definition (HD) digital projection units, Dolby 7:1 surround sound, and upholstered retro 1930s seats. The mobile cinema is screening low-budget, lesser known vintage movies and archival footage of the cities to which the vans travel. If you are an independent filmmaker, you may wish to contact the vintage mobile cinema team and see if you can get your work shown on the movie bus, too.

The cinema is travelling around the South West of England during October and November, but is also available for private hire between public screening journeys.
