Youtube is exploring the potential of live streaming in a two-day trial that will let viewers watch live events. The video sharing website is testing out software that will allow broadcasters to use their facilities as an online delivery system for real time action. If you want to have a go, all you need is a webcam or video cam with USB or Firewire connectivity. Despite the fact that the BBC crashed and burned with its Iplayer during the World Cup this year, TV manufacturers are trialing new apps and anticipating Youtube viewing possibilities within the near future. Google is also planning to host a live Youtube service, which could mean the end for Apple TV.
I am wondering what security measures are going to be taken and how Youtube could possibly police this. I guess we’ll just have to watch and see.
