Windows Mobile 5.0 is the current choice for Windows Mobile users but as Vista is all set to replace XP a replacement for Windows Mobile 5.0 is also brewing codenamed Crossbow, It has a glossy title bar and soft keys and will feature Vista-esque folder icons etc. Word around the hot tub is that it will feature a folder browser lifted straight from Vista. The new OS will offer tight integration with Office 2007 and Exchange 12 as well as including the mobile version of Office Communicator, an Instant Messenger tool for enterprises.

If all goes well Windows Mobile 6.0 will be released to manufacturers by 4Q 2006 and devices with the next gen OS will hit stores by 1Q / 2Q 2007.
