Evena Medical’s Eyes-On Glasses let nurses and doctors get a peek under your skin

We’ve reached that point in technology where the development of X-ray glasses is met without a hysterical snicker… I think. It’s no secret that the tech has gotten a bad rep because of the most ludicrous reason i.e. the potential to see through a person’s clothes. But from the early spy movies to the latest, X-Ray technology has been prevalent even if it were something simply like glasses that let you look for concealed weapons or those that can look through cards to cheat at gambling, to its more sophisticated use in safecracking. In medical professions it’s a savoir and has just gotten a real boost thanks to Evena Medical, a Silicon Valley based imaging technology firm. This company has designed and created a set of glasses that will allow doctors to be able to look under a patient’s skin. This will be great when it comes to finding hard-to-locate veins for IV treatments.

The design is in the form of a head-mounted display set up or an Eyes-on System which also happens to be it’s name. It’s loaded up with vascular imaging technology. Thanks to its wearable design, the device is ultra portable. What users will be able to see are projection overlays of digital content which will help hospital staff better perform some of their tasks. This wearable medical tech also features on-board storage which will make access and verification of documents pertaining to vein conditions of the patient while their admitted a lot easier. The Eyes-On Glasses will also able to communicate with other electronic medical records as well. Frank Ball, Evena Medical’s President and CEO said that this would help save a lot of valuable nursing time by allowing nurses to quickly and easily locate and access the best veins for each patient — even in challenging clinical environments such as pediatric or neonatal units.
