Yamaha PJP-100H conference call system with high quality sound

Yamaha Japan has designed a conference call system that features clear sound quality and none of the nuisance of lags and cutoffs. The PJP-100H comes as a long, narrow unit that integrates the speakers and microphones with the control circuitry for communications. The unit houses 12 small speakers and an array of 32 directional microphones, grouped 16 to the left and 16 to the right. It helps eliminate noise and isolate sounds from specific directions around the conference table so listeners at the other end experience a surround-sound effect. Most conference call systems deal with echo problems by cutting off the microphones of one party when someone on the other end is talking, operating much like a transceiver. But this delays the conversation and can also cut off people while they are talking.

For the PJP-100H, Yamaha uses a learning function to analyze the sound environment and filter out only the sounds that cause echo, resulting in a much smoother conference call.
Yamaha will begin shipping samples in April. The PJP-100H will sell for a suggested retail price of 294,000 yen ($ 2500). And in early May, it will release The PJP-100UH, which can connect to a USB port. This system will sell for 252,000 yen ($ 2125).
