Pantech has launched a new DMB (digital multimedia broadcasting) handset that can be used as a portable TV with a wide LCD screen. The IM-U160 has a 2.6-inch wide QVGA LCD screen and also has an aspect ratio of 15:9. Quite an achievement as most mobile phone has 4:3 screen ratios. The touch sensor keys are placed on the upper slide and vibrate when its surface is touched. With an internal memory of up to 184MB, it can be further expanded with an external Micro SD card. The other specs include a 2-mega-pixel camera with Auto Focus, a PictBridge function, as well as an MP3 player. The new terrestrial DMB phone will be seen in Korea this week under Pantech’s SKY brand. It will be supplied to all the major wireless operators in Korea, SK Telecom, KTF and LG Telecom.
